Banedanmark enters Nordic BIM cooperation

A joint Nordic BIM agreement has been concluded between infrastructure managers from Finland (Finnish Transport Agency), Norway (Statens Vegvesen, Nye Veier & Bane Nor), Sweden (Trafikverket) and Denmark (Road Directorate and Banedanmark).

BIM - Building Information Modeling - is an integrated method to digitize the construction process. Throughout the plant's entire life cycle, from idea to demolition, digital plant models will be the focal point for all the project's activities and the cooperation between the various parties. BIM is both a model and a working method. BIM means closer cooperation between parties and extends to every actor participating in a project.

The collaboration is called "Nordic Road and Rail BIM Collaboration" and has published a "Memorandum of Understanding", see more here.

The collaboration has been formalized with the aim of learning from each other's experiences and that a joint Nordic effort can have greater influence in international standardization forums within BIM.

The cooperation agreement was signed by the various organizations responsible for BIM, and Ingemar Lewén from Trafikverket has been elected as chairman of the Nordic cooperation.
